Frances Weixel, 81, Bismarck, died February 9, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Thomas R. Marcis, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Frances Weixel, 81, Bismarck, died February 9, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Thomas R. Marcis, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Frances was born on March 31, 1931, in Strasburg, ND, the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Fischer) Deichert. She was raised and attended school in Strasburg. She married Leo Weixel on January 28, 1948, in Bismarck. Frances enjoyed being a homemaker all of her life and raising her six children.

She was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary, Eagle’s Auxiliary, Ret Hat Society, and Zion Lutheran Church. Frances liked playing cards, dancing, cooking, baking, canning, gardening, and crocheting. She was a people-person and she enjoyed life.

Frances is survived by her special friend, Milbert “Mel” Schnabel of Bismarck; two daughters, Carol (Dwayne) Lewis of Rolla, MO, and Darla (Phillip) Batton of Redding, CA; three sons, Donovan (Candy) Weixel of Fargo, ND, Russell Weixel of Bismarck, ND, and Wayne Weixel (Ginny Betlaf) of Georgetown, KY; one daughter-in-law, Linda Weixel of Mandan; one sister, Eva (Lenard) Wall of Tappen, ND; two brothers, Bill (Katie) Deichert and Ray (Myrt) Deichert, all of Billings, MT; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; one son, Richard Weixel; one grandson, Bryce Weixel; one sister, Tillie Schumacher; and one brother, Joe Deichert.
