Helen S. Leer 92 of Marshfield died on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Marshfield Care Center, surrounded by family where she has been a resident for the past 4 years.Helen was born on July 1, 1920 in Devils Lake, ND to Randall and Julia (Nermoe) Kjelbertson. She graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1938. She attended North Dakota State University from 1939-1941.

Helen S. Leer 92 of Marshfield died on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Marshfield Care Center, surrounded by family where she has been a resident for the past 4 years.
Helen was born on July 1, 1920 in Devils Lake, ND to Randall and Julia (Nermoe) Kjelbertson. She graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1938. She attended North Dakota State University from 1939-1941.
She was united in marriage to Arnold "Arne" E. Leer on February 25, 1944 in Devils Lake, ND. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1989.
The Leer's owned and operated "Our Own Hardware" store for 35 years in Devils Lake, ND.
Following the death of Arne, Helen moved to Fargo and resided there until 2005. She then settled in Marshfield, WI
Helen enjoyed sewing, playing cards and had a strong passion for painting. Some of her greatest joys came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Helen is survived by two children, Richard A. (Marika) Leer, MD and Lori Fox both of Marshfield; four grandchildren, Rana (Jeff) Haupt of Madison, Erika (Matt) Gearhart of Charlottesville, VA, Kira (Josh) Larsen of Marshfield and Thomas (Andrea) Fox of Big Lake, MN; eight great grandchildren, Gabrielle "Ellie" and Nina Haupt, Ryer and Wyatt Gearhart, Gavin and Lilah Larsen and Adelyn and Rier Fox. She is further survived by one brother Everett (Diane) Kjelbertson of Naytahwaush, MN.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Louise Leer, son Arne in infancy, brother Randall Kjelbertson, Jr and two sisters Evelyn in infancy and Arlyce Milburn.
Burial of her cremains will take place in Devils Lake, ND this coming summer.
