Ostrem, 81, Pioneer House Assisted Living, Fargo, ND, formerly Moorhead, MN, died there under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Elsie Schumacher was born on April 6, 1931, in Monango, ND, to Adolph and Magdalena (Rassler) Schumacher. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown, ND, then moved to Fargo, ND, where she worked in a Café for ten years.

Elsie Schumacher was born on April 6, 1931, in Monango, ND, to Adolph and Magdalena (Rassler) Schumacher. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown, ND, then moved to Fargo, ND, where she worked in a Café for ten years.
Elsie married James Ostrem on November 10, 1957, in North Buffalo Lutheran Church, Kragnes, MN. They farmed near Felton, MN. She served on the Morken Township Board. James died on September 27, 1993. Elsie moved to Moorhead in 2000. She had loved to travel and spent many winters in Hawaii.
Elsie is survived by her daughters, Deb (Mark) Larson, Moorhead, MN, Kathy (Mark) Finstad, Erskine, MN, Sandy (Bob) Braseth, Ulen, MN, Susie (Kevin) Anderson, Dilworth, MN, Ruth (Dan) Strahm, West Fargo, ND; sisters Marie (Lloyd) Hansen, Oakes, ND, Ellen (Don) Grove, Oak Harbor, WA; ten grandchildren Matthew and Tyler Larson, Christopher (Sheri) Finstad, Sarah (Brent) Tenhoff, Joshua Braseth, Amanda Braseth, Melissa Anderson, Myles Anderson, Erin (Levi) Burd, Danielle Strahm; two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Brennan Burd.
Memorials may be given to Pioneer House or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Visitation: Wednesday, February 20, 2013, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 11:00 A.M., in North Buffalo Lutheran Church, Kragnes, MN.
Interment: North Buffalo Lutheran Church Cemetery.
