PlienisMarcella J. Plienis, 88, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013, in Elim Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Marcella was born October 19, 1924, to Christ and Lydia (Streyle) Schwartz, in Napoleon, ND, where she grew up and attended school. She then worked on the family farm until she married Rueben Plienis on February 23, 1944. Together they made their home and farmed in Tuttle, ND. In the 1950's they moved to Fargo and for years they were foster parents before Marcella started her own home daycare. She enjoyed children and loved taking care of others. She also took pride in gardening. After Rueben passed away in 2004, she lived for a time at the Pioneer House in Fargo before moving to Elim where she had most recently resided.

Marcella is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Don) Hedlund of Fargo, Tina Plienis of Fargo; grandchildren, Dusty Hedlund of Fargo, Jody (Eli) Harvala of Fargo, Kayla Rasmussen of Fargo, Amara Rasmussen of Weimar, ND; great-grandchildren, Hayden Hoffert, Keaton Harvala, Foster Harvala, sisters, Betty Berg of Bismarck, ND, Ruby Schoff of Bismarck, ND, Dolores Wagner of Arizona, Ida Roebuck of Arizona; and brothers, Ronnie Schwartz of Fargo, and Harold Schwartz of Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Albert Schwartz, and sisters, Gladys Wahl and Sharon Schwartz.
Visitation: Thursday, February 28, 2013, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Friday, March 1, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
