Dean W. Hall

Dean W. Hall was born Feb 9, 1931 in Rawson, ND the son of Waldo and Bessie Hall. He graduated from Alexander HS in 1949. He received a BS from Valley City State, followed by a master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley. He worked as a teacher in Finley, Alexander and Rolla, ND before becoming a middle school principal in Stanley, ND, in 1958.

While in Stanley, Dean met his wife Joan Lindbo when she was employed as a teacher. They were married on Aug. 9, 1959, in Rolla. In 1967, they moved to West Fargo where he was the principal of South Elementary for the next 25 years. Dean’s passion was education. He was active in the Elementary Principals Association and received numerous awards during his career. He felt that happy children and adults provided an environment that optimized learning, thus creating the South school family.

Dean enjoyed many hobbies, golf, reading, gardening, NDSU athletics, traveling, wintering in AZ and supporting his grandchildren’s many activities. Both his personal and extended family remained the priority. He was a member and elder of Community Presbyterian Church for 46 years.

Dean passed on Feb. 26th, 2013 in Sanford Hospital, Fargo following a battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Joan, West Fargo, his son Robert (Nancy) Hall, Sterling, CO and his daughter Barbara (Chris) Allred, Scottsdale, AZ, and 7 grandchildren.

Visitation: Sunday, March 3, 2013, from 5-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo.

Funeral: Monday, March 4, 2013 at 2pm in Community Presbyterian Church, West Fargo.

Burial: Spring 2013 burial at Rolla Cemetery, Rolla North Dakota.
