Paul Ruliffson, 80, Fargo, ND died Friday, March 1, 2013 at Sanford Health, Fargo.

Paul Harmon Ruliffson was born to Ralph and Margaret (Ranes) Ruliffson on March 6, 1932 in Fargo. He was raised on a farm near Mapleton, ND where he attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1950. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1954; after graduation, he served as a 1st Lt. in the US Army from 1954 to 1957, stationed mainly in Germany.

Paul Harmon Ruliffson was born to Ralph and Margaret (Ranes) Ruliffson on March 6, 1932 in Fargo. He was raised on a farm near Mapleton, ND where he attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1950. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1954; after graduation, he served as a 1st Lt. in the US Army from 1954 to 1957, stationed mainly in Germany.

He married Mary (Mickey) Anna Malstrom on March 15, 1957 at Mapleton Presbyterian Church. They lived and farmed in the Mapleton-Harwood area for 38 years until retirement in 1995, when they moved to Fargo.

While farming in a corporation with his brother, Paul and Joe received the “Kiwanis Agricultural Achievement Award” in 1968, the “Rotary Diversified Farming Award” in 1972 and “North Dakota State University’s Outstanding Agriculturalist Award” in 1993.

Paul served as Worshipful Master of the Casselton Masonic Lodge, 22 yrs on the Prosper elevator board, Farm Bureau and Mapleton Presbyterian Church trustee and elder boards. He had been a member of the Eagles, El Zagal Shrine and Elks all Fargo and the Casselton Bridge Club. After retirement, he and Mary spent summers at their lake home near Vergas, MN which was purchased in 1975 and sold in 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Ellen (Steve) Zaeske, Fargo, Russell (Melinda) Ruliffson, Harwood, and Roger Ruliffson, Detroit Lakes, MN; four grandchildren, Drew and Jenna Zaeske, Reilee and Rachel Ruliffson; brother, Joe (Joan) Ruliffson, Fargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ralph.

A private family service will be held.
