Mabel Helen Peppel, 93, Ada, MN, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at Bridges Care Community, Ada, MN.

Mabel was born on February 20, 1920, to George and Josephine (Pedersen) Johnson near Twin Valley, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Mabel attended Lake Country School, near Twin Valley until the family moved to a farm east of Ada where she attended Plain View School, and completed the eighth grade. After school, Mabel worked various household jobs. In the winter of 1937, Mabel went to work at Tully Lee Restaurant in Borup, MN. It was while working at the restaurant she met Vernon Peppel. They were united in marriage September 17, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley, MN. They made their home in Borup where Vernon had a trucking route to Duluth. Mabel accompanied him on many trips. They then operated a bulk gas business before purchasing a farm east of Borup and farming until their retirement.

Upon Vernon's death, Mabel moved to Borup and spent winters in Arizona where several of her Minnesota friends lived. In 2004 she moved to the Valley View Manor in Ada and made many new friends. In May of 2012, she entered Bridges Care Community.

Mabel deeply cherished her family, friends, and her church. She loved worshiping, Bible Studies, quilting and teaching Sunday school. Also, crocheting, yard work, bowling, holiday lefse making, and was known for her famous white sugar cookies. Her greatest joy was cooking and entertaining for family and friends, playing games, listening to country music, her Minnesota Twins, and especially cards (and winning).

Mabel is survived by two sons: Donald (Carol), Dilworth, MN; Dennis (Caroline), Borup, MN, a daughter they raised, Sandra Minnie (Jim) Morissey, Oceania, CA, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, two sisters, Esther Kirkeby, Twin Valley, MN, Vivian Hanson, Ada, MN, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon in 1988, a son, Ronald, Dennis' twin brother, her brothers Norman and Albert, and a sister Myrtle Minnie.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, March 8, 2013, at Winchester Lutheran Church, Borup, MN.

Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 7PM with a prayer service at 6:30PM at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Burial: Winchester Lutheran Cemetery, Borup, MN.
