James Skadberg

James Skadberg, age 79, of Carrington, ND, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home.

James Allen Skadberg was born on December 24, 1933, the son of John and Mamie (Stokes) Skadberg in New Rockford, ND. He started farming with his brother Kermit after his dad died in a farm accident. In 1954, James attended college at NDSU in Fargo, ND.

James Skadberg, age 79, of Carrington, ND, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home.

James Allen Skadberg was born on December 24, 1933, the son of John and Mamie (Stokes) Skadberg in New Rockford, ND. He started farming with his brother Kermit after his dad died in a farm accident. In 1954, James attended college at NDSU in Fargo, ND.

On March 28, 1959, James was united in marriage to Patti Butts at Federated Church in Carrington. They moved to a farm in Wells County where they farmed until 2011.

James received the 2005 Outstanding Agriculturist Award from NDSU, was a member of the Woodward Township Board, and was President of Stavanger Lutheran Church Board, now known as Stavanger Cemetery Association.

He loved flying, especially his ultra-light, built his own helicopter, and raced go karts and snowmobiles. Jim loved adventure and his Norwegian heritage, but most of all he loved his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Patti; three children, Kal (Debbie) Skadberg, Fargo, ND, Vicky Trottier, Grand Forks, ND, and Stacey (John) Rzaszutak, Carrington, ND; nine grandchildren, Kelly (Lydia) Skadberg, Sophia Skadberg, Trisha Skadberg, Kaylee Trottier, Nadine Trottier, Brenden Trottier, Kyle (Sarah) Rzaszutak, Eli Rzaszutak, and Andrew Rzaszutak; three great grandchildren, Seifer James, Aubrey Marie, and Asher Kal; one brother, Kermit (Jeannette) Skadberg, Gold Canyon, AZ; three sisters, Arlys (Ralph) Harmon, Carrington; Judy (Ron) Semmens, Mayville, ND; Sonja (Robert) Shannon, Rapid City, SD.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to Carrington’s Daily Bread or Mercy Home Health and Hospice.

Visitation: Wednesday, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 8:00 PM, all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND.

Funeral Service: Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, ND

Interment: Carrington Cemetery, Carrington, ND
