Barbara "Barb" M. Short

Barbara M. (Zwack) Short, 76, Fargo passed away after a long courageous 8 year battle with Cancer on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Barb was born March 23, 1937 in Georgetown, MN to Fedilius and Gertrude (Hohnadel) Zwack. As a young girl, Barb moved to Fargo graduating from Shanley High School in 1955. She worked at Shanley High School for 12 years before starting her own small bookkeeping business.

Barbara M. (Zwack) Short, 76, Fargo passed away after a long courageous 8 year battle with Cancer on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Barb was born March 23, 1937 in Georgetown, MN to Fedilius and Gertrude (Hohnadel) Zwack. As a young girl, Barb moved to Fargo graduating from Shanley High School in 1955. She worked at Shanley High School for 12 years before starting her own small bookkeeping business.

Barb married Marvin Short on May 1, 1965 in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo. Marvin and Barb remained in Fargo throughout their 48 years of marriage and had four children.

Barb enjoyed her time with family, friends and the many people she worked with throughout the years. One of her passions was spending time at the Casino and playing cards.

She is survived by her loving husband, Marvin, Fargo, children; Bill Short, Fargo, Cathy Short, Fargo, Dr. Mary (Adam LaCross) Short, Houston, TX, Patrick (Vicki) Short, Novi, MI, grandchildren; Chelsey, Kara, Britney, Taylor, Makenna and Gabby, sister; Deloris (George) Mellon, Minneapolis, brother; George (Gil) Zwack, Owatonna, MN and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Barb’s family would like to personally thank Dr. Gerald Gross and the staff of Roger Maris Cancer Center, the staff of 7th Floor at Sanford Medical Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and/or Roger Maris Cancer Center.

There will be a prayer service on Thursday, April 25 at 7:00 P.M. at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo with visitation starting at 5:00 P.M.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 26 at 2:00 P.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fargo with visitation starting at 1:00 P.M. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery North, Fargo.
