Maxine "Max" Tyler, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully Monday, April 29, 2013 at Rosewood on Broadway, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She was 85 years old.

Maxine Norma was born on March 15, 1928 to Oscar and Anna (Jung) Johnson on the family farm near Osakis, MN. Maxine was 3 when her father died suddenly. Her family then moved to town where she attended school. As a teenager they relocated to Minneapolis where she graduated from Marshall High School in 1946.

Maxine Norma was born on March 15, 1928 to Oscar and Anna (Jung) Johnson on the family farm near Osakis, MN. Maxine was 3 when her father died suddenly. Her family then moved to town where she attended school. As a teenager they relocated to Minneapolis where she graduated from Marshall High School in 1946.

On August 26, 1950, she married Roger D. Shore and together they had two daughters. She later married Donald "Toby" Tyler. After briefly living on Lake Osakis, Lake Darling (Alexandria, MN) and NE Minneapolis, they made their home in Moorhead, MN. Maxine worked many years for Sears beginning in Minneapolis and ending with her retirement from the West Acres store. She thoroughly enjoyed her position as Administrative Secretary and Switchboard Operator as "The Call Girl". She thoroughly loved her coworkers and friends. She was deeply devoted to and dearly loved her family. She enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake. Maxine was a great cook and enjoyed having her friends and family together. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, music, dancing, occasional trips to the casino or bingo parlor and beer. Maxine was fun loving and enjoyed many friendships. Maxine was a member of the Alexandria Eagles Auxiliary and the Fargo VFW Auxiliary.

Maxine is survived by her children, Linda (Dale) Holland, Chanhassen, MN; and Diane (Paul) Tangen, Fargo, ND; 3 grandchildren, Sarah (Eric) Rosbach, Fargo, ND: Jenny (Josh) Kading, Fargo, ND; and Nicholas Holland, Minneapolis, MN; 3 great-grandchildren, Weston Rosbach, Cooper and Cole Kading, all Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Eleanor Johnson, Osakis, MN; and nieces, Sandy, Barb, and Kathy and their families. Maxine cherished her family and will be deeply missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ronald Johnson.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the compassionate and loving care provided to Maxine by the staff at the Good Samaritan Home in Arthur, ND, at Rosewood on Broadway, and by Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Arrangements entrusted to the care of Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. There will be a visitation at Hanson-Runsvold on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 10:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00. A private family interment service will be held at Salem Lutheran Cemetery near Osakis, MN at a later date.
