Donna Aamoth, 81, of Fargo, formerly of Williston, went to meet her son and grandson in the arms of her Lord in Fargo, ND on Sunday afternoon, May 12, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday afternoon, May 18, 2013, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church by Father Russell Kovash. Interment in Riverview Cemetery will follow at a later date.

Donna Aamoth, 81, of Fargo, formerly of Williston, went to meet her son and grandson in the arms of her Lord in Fargo, ND on Sunday afternoon, May 12, 2013, surrounded by her family.

An Evening Vigil and Rosary Service was held Friday evening.

Donna Marie was born January 18, 1932 to Tom and Martha (Fiddler) Courneya in a log cabin on the family farm in Evergreen Township near Perham, MN during a blizzard.

She spent her younger years growing up in Detroit Lakes, MN where she attended Holy Rosary Catholic School through the eighth grade. In 1946 her family moved to Twin Valley, MN and opened the Mar-Tom Café. She graduated from Twin Valley High School 1950.

In 1951 she married her high school sweetheart, Earl Aamoth, in Detroit Lakes.

In December of 1955 Donna and her family moved to Williston, ND. In 1969 Donna started working at Mercy Hospital in the Dietary Kitchen as a salad girl working her way to the top as Chief Dietary Tray Supervisor, retiring in 1977.

In 1980 Earl built their home at Long Creek on Lake Sakakawea where they resided until 2011 when they moved to their present home in Fargo.

Donna and Earl were very active in the Moose Lodge and from 1979-80 Donna was the Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose.

Donna is survived by her soulmate of sixty-two years, Earl Aamoth, of Fargo; her eldest daughter, Paula (Steve) Marquette and their daughters, Stacy (Albert) Johnson and Sherri (Mat) Ekblad of Williston; daughter-in-law, Dianne Aamoth of Sidney, MT and her daughters, Alicia (Dan) of Eden Prairie, MN, Adrianne (Steve) Engleter of Ramsey, MN and Avery Aamoth of Sidney; son, Wayne (Sandra) Aamoth and their daughters, Carly and Lauren of Fargo; daughter, Toni (Rory) Anderson and their sons, Derik (Alyssa) Anderson of Dickinson and Dustin (Kecia) Anderson of Williston; and daughter, Kari (Dale) Hastings and their daughters, Nichole (Brandon) Gwin and Natalie Hastings of Fargo, ND; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Martha Courneya; paternal grandparents; her sister and brother-in-law, Diane “Punky” and Norris “Shorty” Olson; her son, Craig Aamoth; and her grandson, Zach Anderson.
