George Jesse Cooper Jr., 88, Seal Beach, California passed away peacefully at Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo, California on Friday March 8, 2013.

George was born to George and Fern (Patterson) Cooper on October 29, 1924 in Devils Lake, North Dakota.

He was united in marriage to Percy Jean Collins on August 14, 1946 and they spent the next 67 years traveling the path of life together. George and Percy raised their two children, Cindy and Dan, in Long Beach, CA.

After proudly serving in the US Navy, George joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on July 1, 1952 and retired as Inspector of the Administration Division on March 17, 1980. During retirement, George became an avid golfer, tomato grower and most of all a proud, doting grandfather.

George is survived by his wife Percy, their two children: Cindy Marinkovich, Irvine, CA and Dan (Mary), San Diego, CA, 3 grandsons; Ryan, Drew and Trent Cooper, San Diego, CA; his sister Marge Hill, Onalaska, Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Schuette, Perham, Minnesota.

George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and a great friend. We love him and miss him every day.
