Jack passed away Friday, May 24, 2013 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family.

John Junior “Jack” Amerman was born May 18, 1941 at Stirum, ND to Rozair Joseph and Alida Sophia (Bartl) Amerman. As a youngster, he grew up in the Stirum area. He moved with his family to Forman, ND where he received his education, graduating from Forman High School in 1959. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army from June of 1959 to June of 1962.

On January 21, 1964 he married Gloria M. Hanson at Wheaton, MN. They made their home in Forman until moving to Cogswell in 1980. Jack worked in road construction, many of those years as a rock crusher for Bernard Mahrer Construction. Jack and Gloria moved back to Forman in 1996 and were living there when Gloria passed away on October 25, 2004. The past few years, Jack has worked for the Cogswell American Legion Club.

Jack had been a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Cogswell and served on the church council while living there. He was currently a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Forman. Jack shot pool on a league for a number of years, and both he and Gloria were part of a bowling league in their younger years.

Gardening was one of Jack’s passions, and he had beautiful flower gardens annually. He loved being outdoors, spending time in the sun and watching birds. Each year he marked on the calendar when he spotted the first robin of spring. Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was kind, patient, compassionate, loving and caring to all he knew. In recent years, Jack’s grandchildren have been a source of light, life and love that helped to replace the loss of his beloved Gloria. He in turn served as a source of love and admiration to his grandchildren. Jack’s family is greatly comforted at the thought of he and Gloria together again, dancing in heaven!

Grateful for having shared his life are his ten children: Jackie (Mike) Gaylord of Fargo; Donald (Joey) Amerman of Fargo; Joseph Amerman of Fargo; Shawna (Arne) Kujanson of Forman; Mary (Jon) McCleery of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kari (George) Samus of Wichita Falls, TX; Michael (Tina) Amerman of Fargo; David (Kimbra) Amerman of Kindred, ND; Dean Amerman of Forman; Dale Amerman of Forman; 16 grandchildren: Patrick (Sara) Gaylord, Steven and Katie Amerman; Dan, Isiah, Noah and Maggie Kujanson; John McCleery, Madilynn, Sophia and Freeman Samus; Sidney, Jackson and Maxwell Amerman; Mackenzie and Avery Amerman; two brothers: Jerry (Lori) Amerman of Britton, SD; Bill (Roslyn) Amerman of Forman and a number of nieces, nephews and their families.
