In 1962, the family moved to a different farm and David and his brother, Robert started Green Brothers partnership. They started from "square one" and built it into a successful operation that he worked at until the present day.

David was united in marriage to Janice Schmit on August 7, 1970 and to this union three children were born and raised. He parented by giving his kids enough space to have their own ideas, but was close enough to pick them up if it didn't work out as planned.

David was a longtime board member of the LeMars Elevator Board and the Fairmount Rod and Gun Club. He liked to bowl and deer hunt. He was known to "putt around the block" to check out the crops or the local scenery. He especially loved being with his family and grandkids and helping them by teaching them.

David is survived by his sons, Eric (Kristine) Green and Casey (Shawna) Green, both of Fairmount, ND; his daughter, Amy Jo Green, Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Nicole Green, Brady Church, Megan Green, Cassidy Church, Kodie Green, Nathan Green, and Chaz Green; his great-granddaughter, Makaya Leitch; his brother, Robert (Paulette) Green, Fairmount; his sister, Carol (Arvard) Burvee, Fairmount; and his companion of many years, Marsha Bozvosky, Fairmount.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Elsie Green, and his special grandparents, August and Elizabeth Buck.
