Anton (Tony) J. Ihle, 83, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Hettinger, ND, died on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Eventide Home, Moorhead, MN.

Tony was born on November 28, 1929 in Hettinger, ND to Jacob & Minnie (Nagel) Ihle. He grew up on the family farm near Haynes, where the family also ranched and owned a coal mine. He attended school in Haynes. Tony continued to farm on the family farm, and also drove truck. Tony married Dorothy Miller on November 27, 1956 in Hettinger. In his later years, he enjoyed driving school bus for many of the activity trips. Due to health issues, Tony & Dorothy moved to Fargo, ND eight years ago.

Tony was an Indian motorcycle enthusiast as a young man. During his life time, he became an expert in dynamite handling, which he learned working at the Ihle coal mine. Tony’s hobbies included 8 mm filming & photography; annual trips to the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion; and engineering & building tools & equipment. Tony enjoyed traveling the Midwest with Dorothy, and drinking coffee at the local cafes with their friends.

Tony is survived by a daughter, Jan (Glenn) Nelson of Horace, ND; two grandchildren, Megan & Grant Nelson; one sister-in-law, Shirley Miller of Hettinger, ND, one brother-in-law, Hugh Thompson of Long Beach, CA and many nieces & nephews who were very precious to him.

Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; and his sisters, Minnie (John) Gustin, Barbara (John) Fix, Hannah (Tony) Fix, Angeline (George) Mueller and Margaret (John) Schmaltz.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Mass: Monday, July 8, 2013 at 1:00 pm (MDT) at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hettinger, ND.

Interment: Hettinger Cemetery, Hettinger, ND.
