Betty Lou Martin

Betty Lou Martin was born in Moorhead, MN on January 9, 1932 to Nina and Clarence Nelson, and was the oldest of three children. She went home to be with her Lord on July 6, 2013 at her home in Brea, CA. She attended Moorhead High School and married her high school sweetheart, Donald D. Martin, on April 28, 1951. Betty, Donald and their three young boys moved to Anaheim, CA in 1961 where two daughters joined their family. Betty was active at Betsy Ross Elementary School in Anaheim in the PTA and as a noon supervisor.

She was a wonderful mother, supporting all her children in their many activities. She went to work for School Portraits as a photographer’s assistant when her children were grown. Betty and Donald resided in Anaheim for 18 years and in Brea for the past 34. Betty and Donald were long time members of Grace Lutheran Church in Anaheim, and then attended Zion Lutheran Church. Betty attended Christ Lutheran Church in Brea where she was lovingly cared for and supported as she battled cancer.

Betty loved to do picture puzzles, crossword puzzles and was a passionate Angels’ fan attending many games. At the beginning of each Baseball season she would set up a designated area in her home with all of her Angels’ memorabilia.

She is survived by her five children; Michael A. Martin of NH, Russell D. Martin (Julie) of CA, Steven D. Martin of CA, Cheryl D. Rhynard (Duane) of CA and Debra L. Kayoda (Ken) of CA; ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. She is also survived by her sister June Volk (Jack) of Fargo, ND. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Nina and Clarence Nelson, her step dad Frank Politiski Sr., and half-brother Frank Politiski Jr. as well as her husband Donald.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Internment to be held at Riverside National Cemetery in California.
