A memorial service for Robert A. Brown, 74, Valley City, ND will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:30-7:00 P.M. at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. A prayer service will be held there beginning at 7:00.

On August 12, 1938, Robert Allen Brown became the first born to Alex and Irma (Samuelson) Brown. He was born in Hoople, ND. Bob attended school in Hannah, ND. From 1958-1961, he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California while serving in the US Army.

On June 25, 1967, Bob married Janet Goter in Sykeston, ND. They met on a blind date and have spent nearly 50 years together. After he and Jan were married, Bob attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. They moved to Valley City, ND in 1969.

Bob worked at the Valley City Credit Bureau and Country Kitchen. He spent many years working for Hogenson Construction out of West Fargo, ND.

His hobbies included flying, which he learned from his father. He did some photography and woodwork. He liked to fish and do handyman projects. Bob loved old movies and dancing.

Robert A. "Bob" Brown died at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City on July 11, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Janet; siblings, Gary Brown of Washington, Sue (Harvey) Schneider of Langdon, ND, Rick (Ann) Brown of Bandon, OR, and Vicki Brown of Audubon, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Einar and Benda Samuelson and George and Gertrude Brown; his parents; a nephew, Michael Schneider; and several aunts and uncles.
