Amy Steinmann was born October 9, 1922 in Tolna, ND, the daughter of Theodore and Irene (Ward) Steinmann. She grew up in Tolna and graduated from high school there.

In June of 1941 she married Arnold Samson. They made their home on a farm near McVille, ND where they farmed for several years before moving into town and purchasing the McVille Hotel and Café. The couple operated the hotel and café for some time and then bought the Case dealership. In 1956 they moved to Valley City, ND.

Amy had been taking classes through correspondence to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and when they moved to Valley City, she began working for Dr. Neil and Dr. A.C. MacDonald. She finished her schooling and attained her LPN degree. Her entire nursing career was spent working for the MacDonald Clinic in Valley City.

Arnold passed away in 1975. In 1979 she married Albert Erdman. They made their home on a farm near Wheatland, ND. Albert passed away in 1991. After Amy retired she traveled around Barnes and Cass Counties doing foot care for senior citizens. In May of 2012 she entered the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.

Amy had a love of life. She spent her days caring for others but wouldn't have had it any other way. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her friends. She enjoyed playing pinochle at area Sr. Citizen Centers and also playing bridge with her Casselton bridge club friends.
