Linda M. (Haugrud) Alsager, 97, passed away peacefully December 23 in Pocatello, ID after a brief illness. A memorial service was held in Pocatello, ID, December 30th. A funeral service will be held at Fredrikson-Boulger Chapel in Kindred, ND on August 9th at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Gol Cemetery, rural Kindred, ND. There will be family visitation prior to the service at 10 a.m.

Linda was born the second of seven children to Knute M. and Johanna Theolinda (Sundstrom) Haugrud on the family farm near Pelican Rapids, MN, September 28, 1915. She attended country school and was baptized and confirmed at the Grove Lake Lutheran Church. She graduated from beauty school and worked as a hairdresser in Fargo with her older sister, Kathleen, until her marriage.

In 1942, she married Delman Alsager and they began farming near the Sheyenne River in Barrie Township, ND. They were blessed with a daughter, Jane and son, Dan. They were lifelong members of Gol Lutheran Church. Linda was active in the Ladies Aid, Luther League, and Women’s Chorus. She and Delman celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary in 1967. After the children graduated from high school, Linda worked for several years in Fargo, ND, taking off the winter months to enjoy time in the Apache Junction, AZ sunshine. Shortly after Delman’s retirement they moved into Kindred, ND. Delman passed away in 1979. Linda moved to Pocatello, ID to be near her daughter Jane and continued traveling to her winter home. She spent much of her time pursuing her hobbies of oil painting and working with flowers, especially African Violets. In Pocatello, ID, Linda met Arthur E Bauman who also loved to travel. They were married August 21, 1989. He preceded her in death in 2000. Linda suffered from crippling arthritis with complications that led to her residing at Pocatello Care & Rehab for the last six years.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Darrell) Schultz and their children Clinton (Jennifer) Schultz and Sara O’Connor of Pocatello, ID ; and her son, Daniel (Linda) Alsager, Flushing, MI. and their children Kathryn Cross, Nashville, TN and Christina (Scott) Carroll of Reston, VA. She is also survived by: eight great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons, her brothers, Milton and Arlan (Delores) Haugrud of Pelican Rapids, MN, and sister, Mildred Robley of Hawley, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sisters, brother, and great-great-granddaughter.
