Irene R. Pollock, 92, formerly of Buffalo, ND died Saturday, August 3 at Bethany on University in Fargo surrounded by family.

Irene was born March 14, 1921 in rural Lucca ND to Gustave and Rosina (Schlegel) Stangler. She attended school in Lucca and graduated from Lucca High School and Valley City State Teachers College. She taught school in Uxbridge and Lucca.

Irene was born March 14, 1921 in rural Lucca ND to Gustave and Rosina (Schlegel) Stangler. She attended school in Lucca and graduated from Lucca High School and Valley City State Teachers College. She taught school in Uxbridge and Lucca.

Irene married Clem Pollock of Alice, ND on September 24, 1945 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fingal, ND. They made their home, raised six children, and farmed near Alice, ND for 38 years. In 1983 they retired to Buffalo, ND.

Irene was very active in the Alice and Buffalo communities. She sang in the St. henry's Catholic Church Choir, was a member of the St. henry's Altar Society, and taught Catechism at St. henry's for many years. Irene was a long time member of El-Cliff Homemakers. She enjoyed playing Pinochle at both Alice and Buffalo Senior Citizens. Each month she looked forward to time spent with good friends in her area birthday club. Known for her hospitality and good cooking and baking Irene welcomed strangers as well as family and friends into her home and always made sure that no one left her home hungry!

Irene is survived by five children: Perry (Janet) Pollock of Rockford, Illinois, Pam (Dean) Hill of West Fargo, ND, Penny (Larry) Zaun of Buffalo, ND, Tim (Nan) Pollock of Alice, ND, and Missy (Sam) Poulson of Wheatland, ND, along with 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, a sister, Delphine Fornes of Fargo, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, a son Patrick Pollock, her parents, her sisters, Mary Stangler, Dorothy Bofenkamp, and Albina Nordgaard, and her brothers, Clarence, Francis, and Ernest.

Visitation will be Monday, August 5 from 5-7p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Buffalo, ND. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Buffalo Cemetery.
