June Masse

June Masse, 68, of Oakes, ND died on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes.

June Masse, daughter of Stanley "Ted" and Mildred (Stevens) Baska, was born April 4, 1945 in Britton, SD. She was raised near Glover, ND, and graduated from Oakes High School in 1963. She attended Valley City State University, graduating in 1967. June then moved to Fargo, where she taught from 1967 to 1969. On June 14, 1968, June married Richard Masse in Oakes. The couple both taught school in Humboldt, MN from 1969 to 1977. In 1977, they moved back to the family farm near Glover. June was employed at the Oakes Community Hospital from 1977 to 2006. Richard passed away on February 26, 1999.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Masse, Oakes, ND; two sisters, Dorothy (Bob) Kubasta, Auburn, WA, and Karen (Bob) Edwards, Federal Way, WA; two brothers, Norman Andrus, Oakes, ND and Larry (LuAnn) Knoke, Jamestown, ND; three sisters-in-law, Helen Andrus, Oakes, ND, Pat Andrus, Fairfield, MT and Ardis Beem, Tucson, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; three brothers, Clifford, Kenny, and Eugene "Squint"; sisters-in-law Mary and Clara; three nephews; and two nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, ND. Her funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oakes. Burial will be at the Glover Cemetery.
