Bess Marie Hagen, age 91, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.

Bess Marie Hagen, age 91, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.

Bess Marie was born December 29, 1921 in the Pelican Rapids Hospital, the daughter of

Martin and Tessie (Nettestad) Skow. She attended country school #57 through the 8th grade and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1940. On December 3, 1944 Bess Marie was united in marriage to Earl Hagen at the Ringsaker parsonage in Pelican Rapids. For a short time after their marriage, Bess Marie and Earl lived in Pelican Rapids. Then the family moved to Campbell, Minnesota for five years, returning to Pelican Rapids in 1960. They joined Kermit and Hazel in owning the local John Deere dealership. Bess Marie and sister-in-law, Hazel, had many harrowing trips to Fargo, picking up parts, Maytags, etc. Earl died April 2, 2008.

Bess Marie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a wonderful caregiver to her mother and Earl for many years.

Bess Marie enjoyed sewing, baking, crafts and dancing. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

Bess Marie is survived by her 2 sons: Ralph (Judy) Hagen of Minneota, MN, Mark (Mary) Hagen of Moorhead, MN, and; 7 grandchildren: Adam (Jodi), Joel (Becky), Anna (Eric), Tyler, Michael (LaNell), Alison and Elise; sister: Lois (Harold) Gulleckson of Fergus Falls, MN; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Hagen, Almeda (Charles) Woodward, and Vivian Hagen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl: parents, and sister, Pauline Schipper.

Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice, Pelican Valley Nursing Home, and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Visitation: one hour prior the service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids

Service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church

Clergy: Pastor Laurie Skow-Anderson

Burial: Scambler Cemetery, rural Pelican Rapids
