Alma Walker, 89, Garrison, triumphantly entered the gates of heaven on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Garrison Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. Burial will be held in Garrison at 5:30pm. There will be a visitation and a time to share stories from 5-7pm on Monday at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison. There will also be viewing time from 10am - 1:30pm at Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday.

Alma Walker, 89, Garrison, triumphantly entered the gates of heaven on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Garrison Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Alma Walker was born September 17, 1923 to Wilhelm and Emilia (Wohlgemuth) Delzer on a farm near Benedict, ND. Alma was raised and educated in country schools near Benedict and assisted on the family farm after her education.

On June 17, 1942, she married Gerhard Korstad in Garrison, ND. They made their home in Emmet, ND on a farm with their children until 1960. From 1960 to 1967, they owned and operated the Emmet General Store from. During this time she also worked as a postal clerk and postmaster at the Emmet Post Office. After her husband died in 1967, Alma moved to Minot, ND and worked as a postal clerk at the Minot Post Office retiring after serving in that field for 24 years. On March 9, 1980, she married Robert Walker in Las Vegas, NV. Together they were members of Bethany Lutheran Church, Eagle's Aerie, NARVE, VFW and the Elk's Lodge all in Minot. After Robert's death in 2006, she remained at her home in Minot until 2009, when she moved into 3rd floor of Garrison Memorial Hospital due to health problems.

Alma enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband Robert, baking (especially donuts and Walker buns), crocheting, sewing, making and decorating wedding cakes, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Alma is survived by her sons, Gene (Barb) Korstad, Casselton, ND; Jerry (Ann) Walker, Colorado Springs, CO; Steve (Cindy) Walker, Tampa, FL; daughters, Carol (Jim) Wyne, Garrison, ND; Susan (Jim) Struckness, Hanover, MN; Sandy (Dave) Kenyon, Colorado Springs, CO; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister Helen Hellem, Garrison, ND and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerhard, husband Robert, sons Gary Korstad & James Walker; brothers, Ernest, Adolph & Emil Delzer; brother-in-law, Emmanuel Steinert , Kenneth Fitzsimonds, and Vern Hellem; sister, Pauline Steinert and sister-in-law, Pauline Delzer and Edna Delzer.

Memorials can be made to the Trinity Cancer Center of the donor's choice.
