Sidney Katherine Staszko Kuropchak passed away August 23, 2013 at her home in Stockton Springs, Maine. She was born August 9, 1952 in Fargo, ND, the second child of the late Edward and Lois Staszko.

Sidney Katherine Staszko Kuropchak passed away August 23, 2013 at her home in Stockton Springs, Maine. She was born August 9, 1952 in Fargo, ND, the second child of the late Edward and Lois Staszko.

Sidney graduated from Shanley High School (1970) and North Dakota State University in Fargo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. She later attended and graduated from Kent State University in Ohio with a Master’s Degree in Sociology.

Professionally, Sid was a co-founder of the Light Electric Vehicle Association, and had served as Executive Director, Board Member, and President. Her leadership and pleasant management style was responsible for the rapid growth and extensive membership of the LEVA. The LEVA promotes and supports the industry of electric powered two wheelers such as electric bicycles, electric motor scooters, etc. Today the LEVA has more than 250 members in 29 countries.

Sid also acted as the coordinator for eCycleElectric Consulting, a working relationship that lasted more than 15 years. During this time she held key posts at WaveCrest Labs, Ultra Motor USA, and Stone Industrial. Previous to that she was the President of Lauren Manufacturing in New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Sid is survived by her husband of 37 years, John Kuropchak. She is also survived by her sister, Joan (Richard) Greving of West Fargo, ND and two brothers, Gregory (Gail) Staszko of San Jose, CA and Chris (Mary) Staszko of Moorhead, MN. In addition she is survived by 5 nieces, 2 nephews and scores of friends.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service to be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 28th at St. Francis Catholic Church 81 Court St. Street, Belfast, Maine. A luncheon will follow the service at the church social hall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the United Way of Eastern Maine 24 Springer Dr. Bangor, ME 04401 or Waldo County Hospice c/o Waldo County General Hospital PO Box 287, Belfast, ME 04915.
