Haakon J, Hanson, 91, Moorhead, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at Arbor Park Assisted living under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Haakon was born December 12, 1921 in Horace, North Dakota to Hjalmer and Julia Hansen. He attended school in the Horace area. He served in the WWII and the Korean Conflict, serving overseas for both. He retired from the Air National Guard after 20+ years.

Haakon married Dolores Farris in Victorville, CA. They made their home in Fargo. Dolores passed away in 1992.

Haakon worked as an equipment operator at the V.A. Hospital in Fargo, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the VFW and Fargo American Legion.

He enjoyed gardening in his spare time and loved spending time at the family lake on Middle Cormorant.

Haakon is survived by his son Paul (Julie) Hanson, Fargo, ND; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores; son, Rodney; daughter, Karen and 3 sisters.

Haakon’s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Arbor Park Assisted Living for the 2+ years of care, compassion and love and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their great service.

There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, September 18 ,2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M.
