Lorraine I. Paulson

Lorraine Paulson, age 85, formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away September 18, 2013, at Mayo Health System in Eau Claire, WI, from complications of colon cancer.

Born in Waukegan, IL, on January 19, 1928, she was the daughter of Jon and Edna Nelson. She grew up in Lakota and Grand Forks, ND. She was married 64 years to Quentin Paulson also of Grand Forks.

Early on they lived in several areas of the country but later mostly in Grand Forks, Bismarck and Fargo. She was primarily a homemaker but volunteered extensively, from the North Dakota Heritage Center to the Burleigh County Planning Commission to president of the Fargo Swedish Cultural Heritage Society. She specialized in “common sense”, loved to meet people, could “shop til you drop” and was superb at counted cross stitch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Joann McKay of Fargo.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Quentin Paulson; her son, Steven (Louise) Paulson, MD of Chippewa Falls, WI; three grandchildren, Erik Paulson of Madison, WI, Kate Boupha of Tampa, FL, and Ben Paulson of Bellingham, WA; and two great grandchildren, Lily and Brendan of Tampa.

“Rain” made the world a little better.

Private services will be held with burial at a later time at Scandinavian Prairie Cemetery in Chippewa County.

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services of Altoona, WI, is handling arrangements. To express condolences or share a memory online, please visit www.chippewavalleycremation.com.
