Lorraine Brevik Johnson, 92, of Twin Valley, MN died Friday, October 04, 2013 in Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.

Lorraine Victoria Brevik was born May 20, 1921 the daughter of Henry and Cora (Hanson) Brevik in Twin Valley where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Twin Valley High School with the class of 1939. After graduation, Lorraine attended NDSU, graduating with a degree in Home Economics in 1943. For a time, Lorraine lived in New York with her sister, Ivy where they both helped with the war effort packing parachutes during WWII. Upon her return home, she attended North Dakota School of Agriculture where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1947. Following her schooling, Lorraine taught in the Cooperstown High School for two years and Fertile for one year, where she substituted for her sister, Ivy, teaching music. She also taught in Portland, ND for two years. Lorraine spent most of her teaching career in the Hendrum High School, teaching Home Economics for over 30 years. After her retirement in the late 1980's, Lorraine was recognized as a volunteer at the Lutheran Memorial Nursing Home with over 2,500 hours of volunteer service. Over the years, Lorraine enjoyed traveling to Maine spending time at her sister's cabin. On March 30, 1989 Lorraine was united in marriage to Robert "R.D." Johnson. A little more than one year after their marriage Bob died suddenly on June, 29 of 1990. Lorraine continued to live in their home until becoming a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center in November of 2010.

She loved being involved and giving of herself to make her community a better place to live and work. Lorraine was always very interested in children and young people and the betterment of their education. She was a generous giver of "Dollars for Scholars" in the Twin Valley, Halstad, Ada and Cooperstown Communities. Lorraine will be remembered as a very loving and kind lady.

Lorraine was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, taking part in the ladies aid and quilting groups. She served on the Lutheran Memorial Nursing Home Board where she served as secretary and also was on the Norman County Fair Board for many years. Lorraine loved spending time visiting with the other residents and staff at the Twin Valley Living Center. Even after her retirement, many former students stayed in contact with Lorraine through letters, phone calls or an occasional visit.

Lorraine is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ivy; brothers, Harvey and Elton and a nephew, Peter.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley.
