Funeral service for Betty May Weins Hite Vikander, 75, Fargo, ND will be 10:30 am, Monday, October 14, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, SD. Pastor Deb Grismer will officiate. Burial following in Riverside Memorial Park. Betty died on Monday, October 7, 2013 in Rifle, CO.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 3:00-5:00 pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen.

Betty May Weins was born on October 26, 1937 in Sioux Falls, SD. At the age of 7 she was adopted by Bert and Linda (Waage) Hite. They made their home in Randolph, SD. Betty went on to attend school and graduate from Mellette High School. She then attended Northern State University in Aberdeen for two years.

Betty moved to Great Falls, MT and taught school for four years. At this time she returned to Aberdeen and completed her Bachelor’s Degree. She was united in marriage to Ray Vikander on December 27, 1963 in Aberdeen. Betty taught at May Overby and the couple remained in Aberdeen until 1965.

Betty taught and lived in several places over the next 40 years. The family lived in Minnesota, Idaho and North Dakota. Following their retirement Ray and Betty began making their home in Fargo, ND.

Betty loved to play Bridge and was also an avid golfer and bowler.

Grateful for having shared Betty’s life are her husband, Ray Vikander of Fargo, ND; three children, Michelle Vikander, Las Vegas, NV; Jon (Penny) Vikander, Oxbow, ND; and MeLinda (Dave) Rawlings, Arnold, MD; three grandchildren, Leah and Max Vikander and Tyler Rawlings and one brother Curt Olson of Rapid City, SD.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one son Scott Vikander.
