Joseph (Joe) A. Hofer, age 91, of Larimore, ND passed away Thursday, October 10th, 2013 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born January 15, 1922 at Logan Center, ND. He was the son of John and Myrtle (McCoy) Hofer. He attended Logan Center School and enlisted and served in the U.S. Army (Cavalry) during WWII. Joe married Norma Engen on December 1, 1945 in Larimore. Joe farmed and lived on the Hofer family Homestead until his retirement in 1989 when he and his wife Norma moved to Larimore.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Karen (Cameron) Boulden of Bismarck, ND, Mary (Melvin) Verkuehlen of Fargo, ND, Joan (Mark) Anderson of Larimore and Julie (Doug) Rotter of Port Orchard, WA; one son, Joseph Stewart (Evie) Hofer of San Tan Valley, AZ; 18 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren; and Sister in Laws; Elaine (Jim) Hofer of Fargo, ND, LaVonne (Kenneth) Webb of Kingman, AZ and Brother in Laws; Edwin (Arlyce) Engen, Portland, OR and Kenneth (Kay) Engen, Watertown, SD

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, parents, John and Myrtle Hofer, brothers, Francis, James and Raymond and one Grandchild, Sara Yahna.

Visitation: Sunday, October 13th at the Bakke Funeral Home, Larimore, ND from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. A Prayer Service & Rosary will begin at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the Mass in the church on Monday.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, Oct. 14th 10:30 A.M. at St. Stephens Catholic Church, Larimore, ND.

Interment: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND following the Mass.

Military Honors: Ted Valerius Post No. 97, Larimore American Legion.

Memorials may be sent to Red River Valley Hospice in his name.
