Royce Harriet Arneson

Royce Harriet Arneson, 87, Fargo, ND, formerly of Halstad, MN, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo. She was born on September 13, 1926 to Roy and Ruth (Van Pelt) Krueger in Grafton, ND. Royce was baptized and confirmed at United Methodist Church, Neche, ND. She graduated from Neche High School in 1944 and attended NDSU, Fargo and MSU, Moorhead.

On January 1, 1947, Royce married Raymond Arneson. They farmed together in rural Halstad and raised four children. Raymond died on July 22, 1991. In 1997, Royce moved to Halstad from the farm after the 1997 flood. In 2010, she returned to her home state of North Dakota, when she moved to Bethany on 42nd in Fargo.

While in high school, she was class president, 1943-1944. She also assisted her parents in the operation of the Roy Krueger wholesale-retail store. She played basketball in high school and at NDSU, and was team captain 1944-1946. Royce was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta International Sorority, Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad Woman’s Club, Herberg Homemakers (Granny Group), Norman County Historical Society, and Viker Birthday Club.

Royce was an avid reader and had continued interest in current events. She maintained a daily subscription to The Forum, and regularly read local papers: The Valley Journal and Norman County Index. Royce had a clever wit and beautiful laugh. She always had a listening ear to family and friends.

Royce is survived by her children Ray (Jacqueline) Arneson, Halstad; Ruth McCoy, Plymouth, MN; Roy (Linda) Arneson, West Fargo, ND; Robin (Gaylon) Anderson, Melbourne, FL; seven grandchildren: Dana Brooks, James Arneson, John (Alissa) Arneson, Charles (Nikki) Anderson, Nicole (Kevin) Andrews, Rachel (Luke) Finsaas, and Jesse Arneson; seven great-grandchildren: Devin Donnelly; Danielle, Dallas, Delaney and Dillon Brooks; Perla and Finn Anderson; sister-in-law, Marjorie Hage, Moorhead, MN; and several cousins, nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charles Krueger; sister, Ruth Sheldon; and great-grandson, Thomas Brooks.

Funeral service will be Monday, October 14, 2013, 2 pm at the Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad, MN.

Visitation will be 5-7pm on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Fredrikson Valley Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.

Burial will be at Halstad South Cemetery, Halstad, MN.
