Marlys Anne Minar, 89 of Hankinson, ND passed away Friday October 11, 2013 at St. Gerard's Community of Care, Hankinson, ND. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hankinson with burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hankinson. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Marlys Anne was born July 13, 1924 at rural Hankinson, ND, the daughter of John & Annie (Thimjon) Brummond. She grew up on the farm and attended & graduated from Hankinson High School. She worked at a plywood plant in Washington for 1 1/2 years during the war. On June 4, 1946 she was united in marriage to Lyle Minar at Webster, SD. They returned to Hankinson where they lived and Marlys worked for St. Gerard’s for 24 years. Lyle passed away on September 17, 1986 and Marlys continued to live in Hankinson, the last 9 years as a resident at St. Gerard’s.

Marlys enjoyed watching her grandchildren & watching their sporting events. Her family meant a lot to her. She was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church & the Hankinson American Legion Auxiliary.

Marlys is survived by her sons: Rick (Debbie) Minar, Hawley, MN, Dean (Linda) Minar, Des Moines, IA, Dale (Cheryl) Minar, Bismarck, ND & Jeff (Teri) Minar, Hankinson, ND; a daughter: Jill (John) Lonski, Valley City, ND; 16 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John & Annie Brummond; husband: Lyle Minar; Son: Larry; brothers: Dennis, Glenn & Leslie Brummond; little sister: Maxine & little brother: Buddy.
