Virginia Vyonne "Vye" Bale

Virginia Vyonne (Vye) Bale was born to Sivert and Ragna Raaen in Winger, MN. She graduated from Concordia College and received her Masters of Science Degree from North Dakota State University. Over her career, she served in a variety of positions, some of which included: teacher in a one room school house in Montana, the North Dakota State Extension Nutritionist, and Concordia College registered dietician. The last 30 years have been spent living and working in San Diego, CA; Northern Virginia; and Salem, OR, where she and her husband, Jens, could stay involved with their children and grandkids.

Married to Jens Bale (deceased) in 1951, Vye leaves four children and their families: Mary Bale (Ron Rifenberg) of Virginia, seven children (Jennifer, Matthew, John, Tanson, Darrell, Jordan, and Lucas) and eight great grandkids; David Bale (Shelia) of Salem, OR; Carol Dick (Randy) of San Diego, CA and two children (Bill and Ginny); and Julie Lynch (Sean) of Lakeside, CA and three children (Cody, Corrilynn, and Taylor).

A member of the “V for Victory Kids,” Vye had three siblings: Vernon and wife, Helen (both deceased); Vivian (deceased) and husband Lee; and Vincent and his wife, Jan; and five nephews (Nial, Craig, Trent, Perry, and Layton).

We miss you—but are overjoyed that you are in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Just keep the lefsa iron hot, we’ll be there before you know it.

A memorial service was held at Redwood Heights Retirement Center on October 15, 2013. A joint interment service for Jens and Vye will be held at Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA at a future date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in the name of Virginia Vyonne Bale to the following: Concordia College, Moorhead, MN; Redwood Heights Retirement Home, Salem, OR; Gentiva Hospice, Salem, OR. Arrangements are by City View Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Redwood Heights and Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Vye.
