Charles V. Boatman left his earthly life on October 21, 2013. He was living at the Ave Maria Nursing Home in Jamestown, ND at the time of passing. He and his wife lived in Lisbon, North Dakota until they moved into the Lisbon Beverly Ann Home in November 2011.

Charles V. Boatman left his earthly life on October 21, 2013. He was living at the Ave Maria Nursing Home in Jamestown, ND at the time of passing. He and his wife lived in Lisbon, North Dakota until they moved into the Lisbon Beverly Ann Home in November 2011.

Charles Vernon was born in Milnor, North Dakota on September 11, 1922. His parents were

Charles and Minnie Boatman. He attended elementary school and graduated from Milnor High School. He attended Interstate Business School.

Charlie served in the US Army from February 10, 1941 to August 25. 1945. He was stationed in the South Pacific with the 164th Infantry Band on Guadalcanal and the 18th General Hospital on Suva Fiji Islands.

After his discharge from the Army, Charles and Neva famed near Lisbon. In 1954 they moved to Lisbon. Charlie worked at Arnie’s Red Owl, Cole’s Hardware and was a rural mail carrier. He was a lifetime member of the Lisbon VFW, Eastern Star, and Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the American Legion and served as commander. He was a charter lifetime member of Medical Air Services Association and a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the church council.

Prior to leaving for overseas, he and Neva Caroline Heaton were married in Walla Walla, Washington on February 10, 1942. Into this marriage were the blessings of Charles Roger (Phyllis), James Allen (Linda), and Mary Margaret (David Opland).

Charles and Neva are the grandparents of Jon (Maari), Jay (Lisa) Boatman, Mark Boatman and Rebecca (Jason) Faller, Dawn Opland, Denise (Kris) Halvorson, and Christian Opland, (fiance Jenny Ruffing).

Charles and Neva have three great granddaughters. Sabrina and Summer Boatman are the daughters of Jay and Lisa and Mallory Jayne is the daughter of Jason and Becky Faller.

Charles is preceded in death by his mother, who died when he was two years old, and his father who died when Charles was sixteen years. His wife, Neva died on April 2, 2012. He is survived by sons, Roger and Jim, and daughter, Mary and their families

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon North Dakota on Friday, October 25. Pastor Norm Anderson will be officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Milnor, North Dakota.
