Doris June Rachow

Doris Rachow passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the Sanford Medical Center Nursing Home, Hillsboro, at the age of 78.

Doris June Drees was born January 8, 1935, in Grand Forks, ND. She was the daughter of Albert,Sr. and Ethel Drees. Doris was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Forks. She graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. Doris June Drees was united in marriage to Harold “Dick” Rachow on August 30, 1953 in Grand Forks. They made their home near Hillsboro where they farmed. Besides helping on the farm, she worked at the Hunter Bag Factory and later at the Hillsboro Beet Plant. In 1977, Harold retired from farming and they moved into Hillsboro. Harold passed away in 2005. Doris was very involved in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League at St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards at the golf course, quilting at the church and loved baking for her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her 5 children, Michael of Corcoran, MN; Mark of Fargo, ND; Scott (Jen) of Columbia, MO; Laurie Rachow of Moorhead, MN; and Karen (Michael) Maassel of Fargo, ND; 4 grandchildren, Patrick, Megan, and Benjamin Maassel, and Zeke Rachow; 2 step-granddaughters, Heather (Brad) Stubbs and Samantha (John) DeFere; 6 step-great-grandchildren, Domynique and Alexis Mejias, Keira and Kai Stubbs, and Kindle and Bailey DeFere; 2 brothers, Paul (Linda) Drees of Bemidji, MN, and John (Vivian) Drees of Grand Forks, and 3 sisters, Donna (Ron) Widenhoefer, Albert Lea, MN, Violet (Gyman) Okeson, Belton, TX, and Kathy Miller, Lengby, MN.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, Albert and Donald Drees, and 2 sisters, Mary Hooey and Dorothy Schroeter.

VISITATION: 6-8 PM Friday, October 25, 2013 at Wildeman-Boulger Funeral Home, Hillsboro-and one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Saturday

FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:30 PM Saturday, October 26, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hillsboro

BURIAL: Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro
