Edward E. Fennern

Edward E. Fennern, known by many as “Pete” was born August 4, 1933, in Bismarck, ND, the son of Emil and Martha (Kielhorn) Fennern. As a young child, Pete’s family moved to his parent’s farm south of Twin Valley, MN. Following his schooling, Pete farmed the home place for many years. He raised small grains of wheat and oats.

On May 23, 1964, Pete was united in marriage to Mary Ann Orwald. The couple made their home in Twin Valley, a place they would call home for nearly 50 years. Over those years, Pete was employed by Abbott Arne and Schwindt for a time before working as a large dump truck operator for Reserve Mining in Babbitt, MN. After the closing of Reserve Mining, Pete began working at KBI in Twin Valley until his retirement. In the fall of 2012, Pete and Mary Ann moved to Bridges Care Community in Ada. Pete died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Benedictine Care Community at the age of 80.

Upon retirement, Pete was able to play cards with the guys, take in auction sales and go fishing; all things he greatly enjoyed. He also liked tending to his garden and music by legendary Charlie Pride and Hank Williams. Pete was an avid Minnesota Twins Fan and even attended a game at Target Field. He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Twin Valley.

Surviving Pete are his wife, Mary Ann, Ada; sons: Jeffrey Fennern, Twin Valley, and Rodney (Sue) Fennern, Isanti, MN; step-son, Allen (Starlene) Syverson, Twin Valley; step-daughters: Linda (Leonard) Litzau, Blaine, MN, Nancy (Jerry) Wermager, Audubon, MN, Kathy (Roland) Johnson, Moorhead, MN, and Patty (Donald) Jensen, Ulen; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Otto and a sister, Laura McMahan.

A Time of Gathering will be Thursday, October 24 from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. in the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Twin Valley.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Twin Valley.
