Ogden Hagen, 96, Fargo, ND, formerly Leonard, ND, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo.

Ogden Randall Hagen, known to many as “Oggie,” was the first boy born in the town of Grenora, ND on Feb. 2, 1917, the son of Emil and Ella (Randall) Hagen. He grew up there and graduated from high school. Ogden started a trucking business after high school. On a rainy day in 1937, he stopped to pick up the new school teacher who was walking home. From this gesture, Ogden and Rose Schultz where married on Aug. 24, 1939 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, near Leonard. They made their home near Chaffee, ND where they farmed for many years. In 2004, they moved into Bethany Towers in Fargo and later to the nursing home side.

Oggie served on the Chaffee School Board, Elevator Board, Township Board, and Church Council and was a charter member of the Chaffee Lions.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Chernah), Mpls, MN; son, Kenneth (Nancy) Hagen, Leonard; two grandchildren, Erik (Hope) Hagen, Fargo and Lacey Hagen, New York City, NY; great grandson, Zander Ogden Hagen; brother-in-law, Al Opheim, Mpls, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oggie was preceded in death by his wife, Rose in 2009 and six siblings, Evelyn, Charlotte, Maxine, Mary, Beth and Keith.

Family extends special thanks to Bethany and Hospice for their kindness and loving care.

Service: Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at 10 AM at Bethany Retirement Living - Mavis Whiting Chapel, Fargo.

Service: Monday at 2 PM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Leonard.

Interment: Watson Cemetery.
