Grace Ellen Kaiser

Grace Ellen Kaiser, 90, Monango, ND died October 23, 2013 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen. Grace was born July 19, 1923 in Ottawa County, Kansas to Ernest and Ida (Geist) Phelps. Grace graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1941. On June 20, 1941 she married Elmo Kaiser. They farmed in Kansas until March of 1951 when they pursued their dream of farming and ranching in North Dakota. They purchased their ranch in Whitestone Township where Grace and Elmo raised five sons, Charles (Ray), Robert (Bob), Frank, John and James (Jim). Grace continued to reside at Kaiser Ranch until her death.

With her wonderful cooking and generosity to all, Grace was the host of every large family gathering. She enjoyed gardening, canning, working beside Elmo on the farm, listening to country music, reading, family visits to Kansas and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered always for her presence at every important family event, her patience, humor, loyalty, determination and words of wisdom. Her positive outlook and concern left everyone around her feeling uniquely valued.
