Helen Corcoran

Helen passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at her home in Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, with her loving family at her side.

Helen Kapaun was born on June 11, 1922, in Fargo. She grew up and received her education in the Buffalo/Alice, ND area. Helen was united in marriage to Thomas Corcoran on June 18, 1940 in Alice. In 1956 they moved to the home they built in north Fargo, where she continued living until the time of her death. Helen worked for Hornbacher’s for 28 years and has enjoyed retirement since. In her earlier years, Helen enjoyed playing basketball in Alice, riding motorcycle with her husband, and throughout the years, kept her family well supplied with chocolate chip cookies. Thomas passed away in August of 2011.

Helen is survived by her son, Donald Corcoran of Fargo; her daughter, Audrey Schock of Fargo; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son-in-law, Donald Schock; her brothers – Edward, Otto, Frank, Henry, and Harvey Kapaun; and her sister, Elsie Gross.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

VISITATION: 6-8 PM Monday, November 18, 2013 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Tuesday

FUNERAL MASS: 2 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo

BURIAL: Riverside Cemetery in Fargo
