Paula Jacobson, 52, Kindred, ND died on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at her home.

Paula Kay Nelson was born in Cooperstown, ND on Feb. 17, 1961 the daughter of Ardean and Kathryn (Kloster) Nelson. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Moorhead State and her hospital finance degree from Concordia. Since then, Paula was employed by Lutheran Health Services and for over 25 years Paula worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield most recently as a re-imbursement analyst.

On December 3, 1983, she was married to Scott Jacobson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sharon, ND. From that time, they made their home in rural Kindred.

Paula and Scott raised and were dedicated to their family and were immensely involved with the activities of their children. An animal lover, she spent time caring for horses, dogs and cats. She enjoyed showing horses with her daughter, Amanda. Paula was her son, Kelby’s biggest fan with his track and field events. She and Scott enjoyed life in warmer climates in their condo in Marco Island, Florida where they did snorkeling, scuba diving, and enjoyed walks on the beach. In the summer, they enjoyed their lake home on East Silent Lake in MN where she enjoyed pontoon rides, campfires and was the grill master.

She is survived by her husband, Scott, daughter, Amanda, Gainesville, FL, son Kelby, Fargo; her mother, Kathryn Nelson, Fargo; and brother, Dean (Melissa) Nelson, Wynne, AR.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ardean.

Visitation: Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 from 3 to 5 PM with a prayer service at 5 PM at West Funeral Home, 321 Sheyenne St., West Fargo.

Funeral: Monday at 2 PM at Norman Lutheran Church, rural Kindred with visitation one hour prior.

Interment: Norman Lutheran Cemetery.
