Funeral services will be held for Philip Koljonen, age 70 of New York Mills, Minnesota on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills, with David Hendrickson and Karl Foley officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church from 4-7pm on Monday.

The pallbearers were Philip Koljonen, Luke Koljonen, Esko Koljonen, Jesse Koljonen, Clayton Tapani and Travis Gulbranson. Philip was laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery, New York Mills, Minnesota.

Philip David Koljonen passed away at his home on November 23, 2013 due to cancer. Philip was born in Wadena, Minnesota on June 18, 1943. The youngest of 12 children. His parents were the late Philip A. and Senia (Pesola) Koljonen. He was raised on a farm east of New York Mills, and attended New York Mills School. He married Sanna Hill on August 28, 1964 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. They had seven children. Philip was a welder all his life. He also owned the Koljonen Discount Store in New York Mills, MN from 1985-1990. He was a life long member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and was confirmed in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Philip is preceded in death by his parents, Philip & Senia Koljonen; brothers: Jefta Koljonen, Andrew Koljonen, Rueben Koljonen; sisters: Delores Snyder, Sonja Moore, Bernice Kupfer, Sarah Conway and Drucilla Reisenauer.

He will be dearly missed by his family. Philip is survived by his wife, Sanna Koljonen of New York Mills; children: Loretta Koljonen of New York Mills; Lanna (Mike) Davison of Bluffton; Philip (significant other, Tammy Tucker) Koljonen of New York Mills; Luke (Wendy) Koljonen of Perham; Esko (Kate) Koljonen of Minnetrista; Kaisa (Karl) Foley of Perham; and Jesse (Bethany) Koljonen of Perham; 32 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Esther Beamen; Celia (Les) Gebert and Susana Hogue; brother-in-law, Gene (Sharon) Hill; sister-in-law, Emma Koljonen; and a host of many friends.
