Visitation will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 4-6 pm at Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley, ND.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 4-6 pm at Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley, ND.

Jeanette’s funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. The Rev. Linda Schauer will officiate.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Jeanette Marie (Hanson) Rau passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Webster, TX.

Jeanette was born April 14, 1939 in Northwood, ND, baptized in West Union Church, rural Northwood and confirmed at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. She graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1957 and St. Luke’s School of Nursing in 1960. She married Gerald Rodney Rau at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND in 1964 and raised her family in Ashley, ND, where they farmed.

A nurse for 50 years, Jeanette was operating room nurse supervisor at Ashley Medical Center. She had a special gift of making everyone she met feel safe and cared for.

Jeanette was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, singing in the church choir and sextet and serving on the church council. She was a proud participant in the Ashley Centennial celebration and loved to spend time with friends, especially at the card table.

Loved so much by her family, Jeanette is survived by her husband, Gerald; children, Jeanine (Mike) Patterson, Karen (Jasen) Raboin and Kristine (Chris Geist) Oberg; grandchildren, Tyler, Brady and Cody Raboin, Will, Mara and Rachel Geist and Alyssa Patterson; step-grandchildren, Sarah, Rebekah and Jacob Patterson; brother, Jim (Mary) Hanson; sisters, Carolyn (Ron) Gadberry and Ruth (Bob) Stefonowicz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Jennie (Running) Hanson.

The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff of Baywind Village in League City of the compassionate care she received from the nurses, physical therapist and staff. They treated her like a member of their own family because of her heart of gold.
