The exciting moments of pregnancy turned to sorrow for Janelle Auginaush and NaKoya VanWert Sr., of Elbow Lake Village, MN, with the death of their baby boy, NaKoya Lee VanWert Jr., on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes, MN.

NaKoya Jr. is survived by his mother, Janelle Auginaush and father, NaKoya VanWert Sr. of Elbow Lake Village; one sister, Tracy VanWert of Elbow Lake Village; grandparents: LaDonna Anderson of Elbow Lake, Harold Chaz VanWert of Elbow Lake Village, Anthony Auginaush Sr. of Rice Lake, MN and Holly Thompson of Rice Lake; great-grandparents; George “Porgie” Auginash, Lori Dakota of Rice Lake, and Donna “Susie” Anderson of Elbow Lake Village; aunts and uncles: Dillon, Anthony Jr., Henry, Cheyenne, Shawnee, Charles, Cory, and Carrie Mae; great paternal aunt and uncles James “Boy” Anderson, Alvin Anderson Jr., and Rita Fairbanks, along with many maternal aunts and uncles; and a large extended family.

NaKoya Jr. is survived by his mother, Janelle Auginaush and father, NaKoya VanWert Sr. of Elbow Lake Village; one sister, Tracy VanWert of Elbow Lake Village; grandparents: LaDonna Anderson of Elbow Lake, Harold Chaz VanWert of Elbow Lake Village, Anthony Auginaush Sr. of Rice Lake, MN and Holly Thompson of Rice Lake; great-grandparents; George “Porgie” Auginash, Lori Dakota of Rice Lake, and Donna “Susie” Anderson of Elbow Lake Village; aunts and uncles: Dillon, Anthony Jr., Henry, Cheyenne, Shawnee, Charles, Cory, and Carrie Mae; great paternal aunt and uncles James “Boy” Anderson, Alvin Anderson Jr., and Rita Fairbanks, along with many maternal aunts and uncles; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandma, Tracy Dakota; great grandparents: Alvin “Joe” Anderson Sr., Ernie Hunt, Daisy Auginaush, “Tiggems” Ethelbert VanWert, Doris Goodwin, and Otto VanWert; a special uncle, Gerald “Jay” Auginaush and a great great uncle, Norman Auginash.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2013, at St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Rice Lake, MN.

Interment will be held at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Naytahwaush, MN.
