Donna Mae Monk, 76, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away peacefully with family by her side, Dec. 6, 2013 at Valley Eldercare, Grand Forks, ND.

Donna Mae (Brouwer) Monk was born October 29, 1937 in Wilkin County, MN the daughter of Forest and Susie (Buus) Brouwer. She grew up in rural Doran, MN. Donna graduated from Doran High School in 1956. She married Herbert Monk on April 13, 1957 at Vukku Lutheran Church, Foxhome, MN. The couple resided in Fergus Falls, Breckenridge, MN, Alvarado MN and East Grand Forks, MN. She worked as a bookkeeper, school Para and a cook. Donna and her husband Herbert owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Trailer Court, Alvarado, MN until their retirement years.

She was a master of many hobbies; quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting and painting. She shared many of her projects with family and friends. Donna’s motto was “I may not be able to give monetarily but one can always give their time and love.” She spent many hours knitting, crocheting & sewing for her family and friends as well as making infant clothes and quilts donated to Lutheran World Relief.

Donna touched many lives with her time, talents and warm heart.

She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Alvarado, MN, and American Legion Auxiliary #35, Alvarado, MN.

Family members who survive Donna; daughters, Sharleen (Ronald) Pape, East Grand Forks, MN, Melany (Kent) Monk-Ludtke, Grand Forks, ND, sons, Arnold (Diane) Monk, Deptford, NJ, Marshal (Sarah) Monk, Alvarado, MN, sister, Hazel Sporer, Lincoln, Ill, grandchildren, Ross (Carissa) Pape, Harley Monk, Emma and Autumn Monk, great grandchildren, Reagan and Ramsey Pape.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert W. Monk; sister Dorothy Mann; grandson’s Riley and Ryan Pape; niece Lori Ehlert and nephew Nathan Ehlert.

Donna’s family would like to thank family and friends for all their kindness, prayers and support. A special thank you to her Valley Elder Care family and Altru Hospice for the loving care that was given to mom.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Dahl Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, MN.

Visitation: 5-7 PM with a 6:30 Prayer Service, Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Dahl Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, MN

Inurnment: Oak Lawn Cemetery ~ Alvarado, MN
