Roger Andrew Tollefson

Roger Andrew Tollefson, 82, Bismarck, died December 24, 2013 in a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bismarck. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Interment will be Monday at 1:00 p.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Roger was born August 26, 1913 in Austin, MN to Andrew and Nellie (Berge) Tollefson. He was raised and educated in Minnesota and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1949. He joined the US Army in 1950 and served until 1953. After his honorable discharge, he taught at Hanson Mechanical Trade School for fifteen years. In 1961, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he devoted the rest of his life.

Roger was united in marriage to Wanda Isbell on October 24, 1992 in the Chicago LDS Temple.

Roger spent hours and hours tracing his family roots. He had a great respect for his Norwegian ancestors who helped settle areas of Minnesota and North Dakota. This heritage led to a deep love for this country.

Roger is survived by his wife Wanda, Bismarck; children Diane (David) Rusness, Fargo; Andrew Tollefson, Fargo; step-children, Scott (Karen) Lester, MT; April Perez, MN; Robert (Jaime) Lester, Fargo; brother David Tollefson, Wolf Point, MT; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
