Virginia May Zieske Jahnke, 83 of Fargo, ND, passed away on January 8th, 2014 at Essentia Health, Fargo.

Virginia was born on May 25th, 1930 to Ella and George Zieske in Amenia, ND.

Virginia May Zieske Jahnke, 83 of Fargo, ND, passed away on January 8th, 2014 at Essentia Health, Fargo.

Virginia was born on May 25th, 1930 to Ella and George Zieske in Amenia, ND.

She graduated from Amenia High School and received a BA in Education from Moorhead State College.

She began her teaching career in many Cass County schools and concluded her career at Agassiz. She cherished her family, friends, her church and learning. She was an avid reader, a teacher, spent a lifetime volunteering and enjoyed quilting at St. John’s. Some of her hobbies included crafting, adventures and shoe shopping.

She would love going to lunch with her circle of friends and bragging about her grandchildren. She was Grandma Ginny to everybody!

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; sisters, Florence (Clarence) Krueger, Genevieve (William) Sinz and one brother, Daniel Zieske.

She is survived by four children, Jerry (Kris) Jahnke of Parker, CO, Rodney (Connie) Jahnke of Audubon, MN, Daniel (Heather) Jahnke of Mesa, AZ, Cathy Jahnke of Scottsdale, AZ; two granddaughters, Ellen Harris and Lizanne (Cole) Wixo of Lake Park, MN; four great-grandchildren, Drew, Gabe, Lydia, and Molly; one sister, Georgine Randell of Diamond Bar, CA and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the loving care given by her sister-in-law, Bonnie Zieske.

Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church in Fargo.

Visitation: Friday, January 10th from 5-6:30 pm at West Funeral Home, West Fargo and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Prayer Service: Friday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial Service: Saturday, January 11th at 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church, 1710 5th St. S., Fargo.
