Lois Marie Anderson was born September 12, 1933 near Pillager, MN to Arthur and Ruth (Culbertson) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Daisy, ND, graduating from Daisy High School. After high school, Lois pursued her dream in becoming a teacher. She attended Jamestown College and finished at Valley City State. In 1953, Lois was united in marriage to Arlen Harstad.
