Lawrence J. Pfeifer, 87, Big Cormorant Lake and Moorhead, MN died January 31, 2014 of natural causes in Fargo, ND.

Lawrence Pfeifer was born January 4, 1927 to Frank J. and Helena K. in Savannah Township in Becker County, MN. He was raised on the family farm near Two Inlets, MN with nine siblings. Larry enlisted in the US Navy in May 1944. He served in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Drew until honorably discharged in May 1946 at the end of the war. He returned to Minnesota where he met and married Helen E. Wehage in September 1951. They had two children David Lawrence, 1953 (Jackson, WY) and Marilyn Ann (Michael), 1958 (Apple Valley, MN).

Larry started, owned, and developed Pfeifer Decorating in 1956. From 1956 to 1982, Larry successfully operated the company working in many new commercial and educational establishments in the Fargo-Moorhead area. He retired in 1982 when he moved to the lake home on Tradewinds Beach on Big Cormorant Lake that he designed and built. Larry and Helen lived at the lake for over 30 years until they recently moved back to Moorhead in August 2013.

Larry was a charter member of the Moorhead Blue Line Club and was also in the Knights of Columbus.

Along with his wife, son, and daughter, Larry is survived by two siblings Teresa DeNio (Eagle, WI) and AJ Pfeifer (Park Rapids, MN) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service and rosary at 6:30 p.m., Monday at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m., Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Moorhead.
