Omdahl: Politics at a new low in ’12
According to the Gallup polling organization, a majority of Americans were satisfied with the way the 2012 election campaign was conducted. I didn’t realize so many people were out of the country during the past four months. As a representative of the minority, I would say that the 2012 campaign was a sad commentary on American democracy.

Letter: The ND Legislature is taking proper action
While skimming through Inforum, the first article that caught my eye was “Response to North Dakota horse neglect case reaches across state, country.” I started reading the article and, as a rancher myself, was appalled at the magnitude of this heinous act. This was something I never expected to see in our state.

Mandate will be a huge windfall
I completely agree with the editorial in Tuesday’s (July 3) Forum and with Charles Krauthammer’s opinion in the Sunday Forum. Chief Justice John Roberts was indeed wise to protect the legal reputation of his Supreme Court by crossing over to the liberal side in the health care decision.

Abuses by the campaign super PACs would make even ‘Tricky’ Dick blush
I remember being both amazed and fascinated by the stories of secret fundraising conducted by President Richard Nixon and his aides in the days of Watergate. Clandestine meetings, secret donors and undisclosed money were all part of the outrageous scandals and abuse of power that led to Nixon’s downfall.

Forum editorial: Paul Ryan is future of the GOP
Paul Ryan, the Republican candidate for vice president, is a superstar among Republicans. Indeed, it can be argued his is a legitimate political superstar, regardless of his party affiliation. His speech to delegates Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention in Tampa embraced all the elements the party faithful wanted to hear, and more.
