Marjorie G. Swang, age 92, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, in Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN, with her family by her side.

Marjorie Genevieve Freeman was born on December 31, 1920, in Moorhead MN. She grew up and attended school in Moorhead where she played basketball. Marge graduated from Moorhead High School in 1938. She married Henry Cruz May of 1940. Together they had three children, Brenda, Frederic, and Charles. Marge attended Dakota Business College and then she and Henry opened Henry’s Furniture Store in Fargo. They separated. She worked at The Finest Men’s Wear where she met Merwood “Mike” Swang, whom she married in 1965. Together they operated The Shoe Box which was known for its in store carousel. Mike died in 1974. Then she worked at The Korner of Fashion and after that at Carnary’s Fashions. Marge enjoyed playing solitaire and bridge, and was a passionate Twin fan. She was active in the Soroptimist Club and as president led the building of Gooseberry Park in Moorhead. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
