Joe Roden, 78, Fargo, ND died on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo.

Joseph W. Roden was born on July 17, 1934 in Fargo to Lloyd and Janet (McKinnon) Roden. He grew up on the family farm near Casselton, ND and graduated from Lincoln High School in Casselton. He attended UND for two years. During his time there, he played for the university's football team. Joe married Marjean Hill on August 4, 1954 at First United Methodist Church in Fargo. He served in the US Army for two years. Part of that time was spent serving in Germany, and his family accompanied him there as well. They returned to the Casselton area where they farmed for many years. In 1996, Joe and Marjean retired to Fargo and began spending their winters in Arizona.
